Brief

To create a video piece based on an old poem which would comemorate 100 years since the abolition of the slave trade.

 

Solution

Rips in brown paper (an identity created by Wonder Associates for the Revealing Histories campaign) would reveal images of buildings from in and around Manchester that were built on the wealth created by the slave trade. Text would follow the poem and highlight important words for viewers where there would be no sound.
